Brochure for an E W Barton AC Electrolytic Wet Winding Machine Shown Around 1986 - Archives.
Yes, this winder wound 2 Anode foils & Papers submersed in Electrolyte, producing a nearly finished product, 4 position 2 station Winding to Capacitance!
If you have one of these E W Barton Company Winders we do not retrofit these.
The controller & operating program are ancient. These capacitor winding machines are extremely specialized. Due to the expense I cannot see any usefulness in trying to convert these to anything else.
In reality, 75% of the mechanical content of this winding machine is devoted to running the winding head submersed in a corrosive electrolyte. The cut away in the machine's upright plate would weaken the rigidity upon conversion.
We are not in the business of dealing with electrolytic capacitors or the winders. Other electrolytic winders may be of interest to us, here is an emerging market for very large foil/film capacitors. The machine pictured if converted would not even be cost effective to deal with.
Even though I originally built the controls for the OEM, I do not have the electrical schematics, nor the original troubleshooting electronics. Not to mention I cannot reprogram these without all the antique IntelĀ® programming equipment.
This one belongs in the scrap metal category.
Some of the parts could be utilized as spare parts to be employed in other E W Barton Electrolytic winding machines, though.
The technically trained eye will pick up nonsensical specifications mistakes, written by management.
