Miniature Metallized Winding Machine Shown Circa 1986 - E W Barton Winder Archives.
These Metallized Winding Machines are the least gifted of any of the E W Barton winders, and if equipped with the afterwrap film applicator, they are a pain.
They can certainly have the electronics replaced if you are happy with them. You probably have seen the Burn-Off winder on this site. This frame was not the starting point, a foil winder is easier to deal with.
Maybe you have an after-wrap applicator on yours (it was an option). They all should have a staggered cut-off for the metallized films.
Even with all the goodies added to these winders they are limited to making low voltage capacitors. The Burn-Off machines can make the high voltage stuff all day long.
I have one of these Bartons now, and in the future I will figure out what to do. The frames are superb in the fabricated models. It would be a waste to scrap these, some great engineering will follow.
If you have one of these barton winders we do retrofit these, contact us and we can work out the details of getting a better capacitor winding machine.
They can make an excellent Laboratory Dielectric evaluation machine, I will probably offer a Lease/Buy Option program to accommodate Research Laboratories and SBIR programs.
KR International is now working on designing Burn-Off mechanical assemblies to make these Winding Machines useful again. Other improvements are in the works. We have an older machine that is about 33% completed.
